Brighton and Hove
- a Healthy City

Healthy City logoThese pages tell you about the Healthy City programme in Brighton and Hove.

Healthy Brighton and Hove involves NHS Brighton and Hove, the City Council and many of the city’s other leading organisations.

That’s because good health isn’t just about health care. It is also linked to things such as employment, housing, transport, crime, education and income.

Practical examples of what the programme has done include:

  • promoting health at school
  • encouraging local businesses to support healthy living and sports activities for their staff
  • creating green gyms, greenways, and safe cycling and walking routes
  • reducing the number of people who smoke, particularly in the most deprived areas with the worst health
  • more support for carers
  • improving air quality by reducing traffic on two main roads leading into central Brighton
