Have your say on the NHS Constitution

The NHS Constitution brings together in one place what the NHS does, what it stands for and the commitments it should live up to.

A consultation has been launched so that people can give their views on the constitution. It specifically focuses on these patient rights:

  • a maximum waiting time of 18 weeks after GP referral to start consultant-led treatment.
  • a maximum waiting time of two weeks to be seen by a cancer specialist following GP referral
  • a commitment that the NHS Helath Check Programme (which assesses a person's risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease) will become a right for everyone aged between 40 and 74).

If you would like to take part in the consultation, see the Department of Health website for more details. The SHA has also created a website which contains a summary of the Constitution and has a feedback page where you can leave your views.
