PALS is here to help you:

Find out about local services

We can give you information about local NHS services, social care services, community and voluntary groups, and self help/support groups by telephone, email or post, and tell you where you can find out more.

If we don't have the information you need, we’ll do our best to find it for you.

Find your way through the system

The NHS can appear to be very large and confusing. We can give you advice about what to do, who to contact, where to go etc so that you get the right service, at the right time, for your needs.

Sort out problems and concerns

Even if people don’t want to make a formal complaint, they often do want to find out what happened, receive an apology for any mistakes, or just have their concerns and suggestions heard.

PALS staff will talk through problems and concerns with you and, if possible, help to resolve them quickly and informally. We also highlight problem areas  to the service concerned and work with its staff to shape services around the needs of the people who use them.

Make a complaint

If we can’t help you resolve problems informally, we can advise you about the NHS complaints process and where to get specialist advice or independent advocacy.

Give your views about services

We’re happy to forward your comments, compliments and suggestions to the people in charge of services (anonymously if you prefer).

We produce regular reports about the issues raised with us, and the types of problems and issues that concern local people, and work with health service providers to change and improve services as a result.
