Each Board meeting receives a report setting out our current performance against national and local targets.
The Audit Commission rated us as performing well in 2007/08. We had improved our performance in three areas and maintained it in the remaining two.

The Care Quality Commission judges us on how well we use the resources available to us and for the quality of health services we buy on behalf of local people.
For 2008/09 we were rated good for our use of resources and good for the quality of services that we commissioned.

The 18 Week Patient Experience Survey seeks to establish patient experiences of waiting times and assess whether they perceive that care has been received when needed.

In December 2008 our progress on commissioning was assessed through a national process. The results show we have made a good start to our journey to becoming world class commissioners and are in a strong position to improve further.

We are already working on improvements in weaker areas including stimulating the market and predictive modelling.
Improving our commissioning will help us to ensure delivery of better services that are more closely matched to local needs, improving health and well-being and reducing health inequalities across the community.
